Hello, Dr. Ren-Hua Chung at the Miami Institute for Human Genomics has a fellowship opportunity for a UM student. He wants to optimize his program, CAPL, for combined family-based and case-control association analysis. This is an extremely computationally intensive program so he’s interested in trying to parallelize the program by implementing the MPI framework. The project would take about 20 hours a week. A strong programming skill in C++ is required. It is a 1-year project so it may be better suited for a MS dissertation than a PhD project, but could possible be a component of a larger project.
