CORAL GABLES DRIVER LICENSE OFFICE TO CLOSE THIS MONTH
~ Closure will lead to more efficient service delivery ~

CORAL GABLES – The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles wants customers to know that one of its driver license offices will close this month. The office located at 4520 Ponce De Leon Blvd., Coral Gables, FL 33146, will close its doors at 5 p.m. on May 25.
“Closing the Coral Gables office is part of a consolidation effort that will combine driver license and motor vehicle services into one facility at the Mall of Americas next year,” said Division of Driver Licenses Director Sandra Lambert. “The move will help centralize motorist services to save taxpayer dollars and enhance customer service by offering a one-stop shop.”

To receive driver license services, customers may visit any of the other 11 driver license offices located in Miami-Dade County, to include:

Florida now requires additional documents to obtain a new or renewed driver license or identification card. Prepare for your next visit to a driver license office by bringing documents to show proof of 1) identification, 2) Social Security number and 3) residential address (two items). In addition to cash and personal checks, the Department accepts the following credit cards: MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card.

When possible, the Department encourages customers to skip the trip and conduct their driver license business online at www.flhsmv.gov, where they can access various online services. Customers can renew their driver licenses, identification cards and vehicle tags, as well as change their address all from the comfort of their home or office. There are no surcharges for using the Internet. If a customer has received notification from the Department that he/she will have to come into an office, he/she can make an appointment at www.flhsmv.gov/oasis. The online appointment service is an excellent time saving tool.
